On the heights of Niagara Falls

On the Heights of Niagara Falls immerses us On the Heights of Niagara Falls is the story of Moanda-Lumey Kafouine, a young Sierra Leonean torn away from his native land at a very young age and sent to an unfamiliar place elsewhere. Thrown into the throes of a servile life, his life's journey strewn with obstacles and suffering will make his existence a long agony. On the Heights of Niagara Falls the beginnings of an extraordinary destiny will be born. His encounter with Abraham and Rosa, mysterious characters who seem to know him better than he knows himself, will change his existence forever.

And what if the unique destinies of Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and Abraham Lincoln, all subject to the weight of fate, had been intertwined in ancient times...

Very happy to have been selected as a beta reader. In this novel, the author takes us very quickly by the hand without ever letting go. Very quickly we understand that something special is going to be formed between the three heroes of the novel: Rosa, Abraham and Moanda-Lumey. This restorative book came into my life at a time when I needed it. The substance, the form, everything is there. Halfway between Khalil Gibran's The Prophet and Saint Exupéry's The Little Prince, this novel upset me, moved me and stirred my guts. A real little gem, a vibrant call to humanity!

"From Africa to America" could have been the title of this book. Flamboyant and incantatory writing, this philosophical novel simply overwhelmed me. This transformative book invites us to introspection and temperance.

"There is a universe for every decision that has not been made" this quote from the book sums up quite well the mystical and almost quantum dimension that the author offers us. We do not come out unscathed from reading this novel. A very great book to keep close to you.

On the Heights of Niagara Falls is an ode to life that intoxicates us throughout its reading with its teachings. The tragedy of slavery is told to us here like nowhere else. Initiatory, epic, universal and touching at the same time, this novel is a gift from Man to Man. I could not put down this book that moved me to tears. A masterpiece of writing to read and reread. Touched in the heart! Thank you

This is not the kind of book I usually read but I let myself be tempted and the least we can say is that I did not regret it. A big bravo for this masterful novel. This book made me travel, think, analyze and understand the world of yesterday and today. The writing is dazzling and some passages are absolutely magnificent. We go through all the emotions and as soon as we finish we only want to reread this book to understand it better. Hats off!

I was literally blown away by this book. The entire novel is a quote. I will remember this one:

"In this complex and surprising life, I was constantly confronted with the mysteries of existence and its innumerable questions. And even when, sometimes, in its infinite gratitude, life ended up bringing me the beginnings of an explanation, the hope that pushed me to seek it disappeared to resurface as the driving force of a new question. Why was I born here and not elsewhere? What had I done to be offered the sweet privilege of treading this earth? So many questions that I had to answer if I wanted to survive this life in which ignorance was much worse than death."

A masterful book. Thank you for this gift.

Wonderful philosophical tale. The cover immediately immerses us in the bath and the title does not leave us indifferent. The destiny of this enigmatic hero will be anything but ordinary, just like his meeting with Rosa and Abraham.

A magnificent book about resilience, friendship, anger, women, love, forgiveness, strength, pain, family, nature, guilt, destiny and slavery. Remarkable writing, used to serve an incredible and moving story. The end of the novel is as unexpected as it is extraordinary.

Thanks to the author.

In general, writing is often the poor relation of this kind of book and the least we can say is that here it is particularly neat and remarkable in every way.

The story will not leave anyone indifferent and the final twist is magical. I have one regret, I would have liked the heroine "Rosa" to take more space in this book but no doubt it is intentional...

I really liked this novel which did me a world of good and which has already found a special place in my library.

I may be wrong but there is a story in the story of this novel and I would be curious to understand what the author's motivations were in writing this book and especially what his life has been like up until now. Well, we never talk about it but I was particularly touched by the thanks at the end.

The hero of this short novel "Moanda Lumey-Kafouine" is a young African struck by a painful injustice that nothing seems to be able to appease. Page after page we understand that he is writing History but he is unaware of it. Some books mark us, transform us and make us different from what we were before "On the Heights of Niagara Falls" is one of them. I found in this book the same flashes of brilliance as in Toni Morrison's writing, there is "Beloved" in this novel. We can already speak of a very great writer, can't wait to read the next book.

We knew AI-Moustapha as the hero of Khalil Gibran's "The Prophet", Santiago in "The Alchemist" a novel by Paolo Coelho now

we will be able to talk about Moanda Lumey-Kafouine, the African aspirational hero of "On the Heights of Niagara Falls" by Steve Moradel.

Rarely has Africa been so well described and praised, thank you to the author.

"After a few hours of walking, I arrived at the outskirts of my village. I allowed myself one last freedom, that of contemplating the marvelous blue sky against an expanse of ochre, the magic of a sunset on a silent shore populated by a few abandoned fishing boats. I loved the ease with which life made us eternal dreamers."

Magnificent fresco, a poignant and reconciling story at the same time. This book is one of my most beautiful encounters.
